CAFE JIWA UPDATES
Thanks to early donations by supporters of Jiwa International, we have been able to secure a business license for Cafe Jiwa Corporation in Taiwan. This cafe will become a center for migrant workers in Yuanchang Township where they can enjoy flavors from home in a welcoming and halal environment. Cafe Jiwa will be a place to bridge the gaps between nationalities, religions, and perspectives as we work to meet the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of migrant workers in Taiwan.

We have launched a capital campaign to raise funds for the start-up costs of Cafe Jiwa. Please click the button below to help us reach our goal of $30,000 by the end of 2024. Check back for regular updates regarding the status of Cafe Jiwa's development.

We have received our company tax ID from the Taiwanese government. We needed that number to make certain equipment purchases and some of the remodeling, so now we can begin to move full steam ahead.
-
We bought some furniture and have the second floor seating area of the cafe laid out. We need some more chairs and need to add some art to the walls to add that "lived in" feeling, but we're excited its starting to look like a cafe.

Check out this video for a tour of the building.

We have signed a contract for a three-story building in Yuanchang Township, giving us over 11,000 sq. ft to work with! The cafe will primarily use the 1st and part of the 2nd floor, a thrift store and classrooms for language and vocational skills classes will also be located on the 2nd floor, and we're still dreaming about what to do with the 3rd floor.

After opening a company bank account, there are only a few more steps to receive the final approval from the Taiwanese government to open to business

Now begins the process of minor renovations to get the building ready for business. Menu development and sourcing are also things that are keeping us busy.
